Marketing & Events Manager

 

Players Sport & Social Group has grown into the one of the largest and most influential providers of adult social events, recreational sports leagues, tournaments in the nation! With over 68,000 members who participate with us each year. Our social events alone serve over 12000 people annually with plans to double this in the next two years.

 

As we continue to grow with more events we are hiring for the position of Marketing & Event Manager. This person will work closely with the Director of Events & Sponsorship and will be the driving force for growing the social program by upgrading existing events and creating new and innovative social events. This position will have a lot of freedom and autonomy to have impact on each event and share in the revenue produced by the events. The Marketing & Event Manager should be knowledgeable in social media trends, have a pulse on Chicago’s social scene, and be creative in thinking outside the box for new marketing campaigns and events. This person should be a go-getter with a take-charge attitude, who needs little supervision to complete a project. He/she should have a passion for specials events, and be self-motivated to create his/her own success. A love for sports is an asset.

Responsibilities:

· Assist in planning and implementing large-scale events from start to finish.

· Expand and grow existing social events including Chicago Whiskey Festival, Chicago Tequila & Sangria Festival, Boos & Booze Halloween Party & NYE Party & The Big Dig Beach Party.

· Create and implement new social events.

· Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.

· Help facilitate large scale sporting events/tournaments (Big Dig, Beach Slap, Luau, etc.)

· Manage PSSG Brand Ambassador team.

· Coordinate with graphic designer(s) to create event and marketing promotional materials.

· Serve as liaison with on-site vendors.

· Assist with preparing budgets and managing check requests and invoices.

· Manage and expand social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

 

Qualifications:

· Excellent communication skills, including writing, proof reading, and speaking skills.

· Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and work assignments.

· Extremely organized and detail oriented.

· Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism.

· Ability to accomplish projects and meet deadlines with little supervision.

· Graphic design experience desired, not required.

· Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.

· Bachelor’s degree preferred; significant work experience can substitute for the degree.

· At least 1-2 years of experience in event management and/or marketing.

· Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word (mail merge & labels), Excel (formulas), PowerPoint a plus.
