Drum roll please....
For my 20th annual I wanted to head back to the best of the best so I have chosen to return to incredible Saalbach, Austria for skiing! Saalbach was truly one of the most fun ski resorts we have ever visited. We skied like crazy, ate like kings and partied like rock stars... Austrian style! The extension is to Dublin, Ireland for St. Patrick's Day!!! Having been to the parades in Chicago several times I always wanted the group to experience the real thing in Dublin!
For the first time ever the trip will now be in March so that we may be in Dublin over St. Patrick's Day and this also means we will be in the Austrian Alps to enjoy some beautiful spring skiing. I am more than certain that the combination of Saalbach and Dublin over St. Patrick's Day will make this one our most legendary trips ever!
SAALBACH, AUSTRIA
Fri, March 6th - Sat. March 14th
Saalbach is one of the best combinations of skiing, après ski, nightlife and village atmosphere that we have ever experienced. It is always rated as one of the top ski resorts in the world for both skiing and partying! It is certainly tops on my list.
Let’s start with the skiing (saving après ski for last!). Saalbach is steeped in tradition of excellent skiing for all levels. The ski area is enormous with seemingly endless amount of trails that includes its sister resorts Leogang and Hinterglemm. These resorts make up the world famous Ski Circus. Here is the link to Ski Circus trail map. There is great skiing for all levels of skiers, but even our best skiers won’t likely be able to cover the entire ski area while we are there. The Austrian Alps are beautiful and will provide some eye popping vistas in the beautiful spring sunshine. Saalbach has snow coverage well into April so ski conditions should be fantastic!
Après (Happy hour) ski in Saalbach is amongst
the wildest and and most fun in the entire world. With bars like the Goat Stahl (my favorite après ski bar ever!) and Hinterglem Alm (#3 après ski bar on my all-time list) that are unparalleled in all the Alps. There is fun to be had everywhere in Saalbach as they even have bands playing in the village square. After après ski ends the nightlife continues seamlessly into the wee hours of the morning. Even with its ski hard…
party even harder mentality, Saalbach has its refined side too. The village is pristine and has maintained its original Austrian Alpine charm with hand painted A-framed structures, laid back wine bars and upscale local shops. With nearly one hundred restaurants the region is also well known for superb traditional cuisine both on and off the mountain.
We will have our third annual “costume ski day” on the mountain. I have already decided that the costume theme will be a St. Patrick's/leprechaun theme. I can already picture 30+ leprechaun's skiing up and down the mountain. FUN! Additionally, we will be taking advantage of the regions sledding courses, horse drawn sleigh rides and nearby sightseeing!
DUBLIN, IRELAND
ST. PATRICK'S DAY EXTENSION!
Sat. March 14th - Wed. March 18th
I cannot express how excited I am to be taking the group to Dublin over the St. Patrick's holiday. If there was ever a celebration that was tailored made for the group then it is St. Patrick's Day in Dublin! The city will be absolutely buzzing with weekend events, parades and of course the Guinness beer will be flowing. St. Patrick's Day falls on a Tuesday so we will be spending four nights in Dublin.
we will be doing some historic sightseeing in and around Dublin. Dublin itself needs little introduction as it is well known for its amazing history, famous pubs,Guinness beer factory and nearby ancient castles and beautiful coastlines. I will be offering additional tour options to visit many of the famous sights on the rest of the Emerald Island.
I hope you can join the group in 2015 for the 20th
Annual Ski & See Europe Vacation. It promises to be one of the best trips ever!
Hope to see you on the slopes of Austria and in the
pubs of Dublin!
